What happens when you lock up two house-music wizzards in a studio that's got no AC? They produce a powerful fan blower like Shake it / Filterscope, two tracks that will ventilate all dancefloors around... Damien J. Carter, producer of international house anthems as Holding On, This Is How We Rock and What World, teamed up with A. "Anthony" Lee (Electric Passion) to release a new cutting-edge production, Shake It / Filterscope, which is going to be the debut release on Damien's new label Relifted.
While Damien is something like a dirty old house music professional, touring worldwide and producing top-tracks that have been selected for internationally successful video games (EA Sports) and movie soundtracks (Scary Movie), A. Lee chips in exactly the same fresh and energetical spirit that made his record "Electric Passion" spinning all over the world. Together, they mash up their musical favours and influences to make their new production Shake it / Filterscope the first house music must-have supertune in 2008.
Damien J Carters What World has been gradually building its reputation throughout Europe for well over a year from when Pete Tong played it four weeks on the trot back in early 2006. Since then its been licensed to dozens of compilations, released in several European countries and was the soundtrack to the Playstation FIFA 2006 game. Now its to be given a UK release with hot new mixes from Aussie favourites TV Rock, My Digital Enemy and hot Italian DJ/producer Shield. The video has already received excellent exposure on several channels.
DAMIEN J. CARTER currently one of Europe’s hottest rising talents in the House Music Scene!
... a European Star... Eddie Amador / Yoshitoshi Rec. Los Angeles
...a great DJ and producer... Phats & Small / London
...definitely a name to watch out... Jonathan Ulysses / Space Resident Ibiza London
Currently collaborating with Grammy-Award winner Bruce Elliot Smith (the man behind Kylie Minouge), Damien J. Carter is knocking at the doors of eternal fame, but let us track the long way back to where it all began:
Damien started DJing at the age of 14, first he was into Hip Hop, then he turned to House Music, but always, as he mentions, he played vinyl with a soul. After building up a loyal fan-crowd in local clubs, big business took notice him. The result of his first Hit Single Holding On (Milk& Sugar Rec / Credence UK) was simply amazing and led to bookings to all major events like Miami, Ibiza, Nature One Festival and the Loveparade.
Since then, music stars like Gary Barlow, Harry Choo Choo Romero, Silicone Soul, R`n`B Diva Mya and UK#1 artist Daniel Bedingfield all have been asking for a studio session with Damien - even Hollywood ordered one of his demanded remixes (Scary Movie). Current names on his ever-growing studio-schedule are Jonathan Ulysses (resident at Ibiza`s notorious Space) and Eddie House Music Amador.
With his own productions he convinces everybody, first the girls (among them former BMG-CEO Thomas Stein`s wife, who was very enchanted to meet him), than the DJ`s and somewhere between all that, - Mr chameleon himself, Boy George, who gets wet eyes when somebody mentions Wonderboy Damien.
To think that Damien`s success is surprising is certainly not right. Whoever has seen him live on stage, which can only be recommended, recognizes that this guy definitely knows what he’s doing. Where other DJs just seem to be bored of doing their work, Damien spins up to four records at the same time, let the vinyls turn forward and backward, with the needle on top or on the bottom... even David Morales had to look at twice to believe his eyes!
Damien uses at least three turntables, an external effects board and a sampler just to give the expression live-DJing a new meaning. Currently he djs at the most renowned clubs, the biggest events, open airs & festivals, including the Comet Music Award (Germany), where pop stars like Ronan Keating and Ashanti danced to Damien`s thrilling 4-hours live-set.
Besides this impressive track record Damien frankly admits that there are a few steps to take. Becoming more and more popular throughout Europe, he has to prove that he can reach and keep pace with the true stars like Roger Sanchez and Eric Morillo, with whom he has been compared with a couple of times. The fact that such comparisons came from the Leaders Of The World League themselves, is certainly a good sign. Sometimes Damien is taking his fervor a little bit too far.
On 2004`s hard fought MTV DJ Battle he broke his finger during his thrilling live show and received the 1st prize in the hospital afterwards.
